How to use Vehicled

1. Signing in

Click Sign in with Google (or Facebook) on the home page. That's it — no password to remember. During the alpha you'll also enter an access code once; your browser remembers it.

2. Add your first vehicle

Go to My Garage and use the add form:

• Make & model — start typing (e.g. “Toyota Corolla” or “Ducati Monster”) and pick from the list. Cars and motorcycles from 1900 to today are here — vintage machines welcome with their real model year.
• Owned vs. drove/rode — did you own it, or just drive/ride it? The label adapts to cars vs bikes.
• Model year, colour, trim (all optional) — the model year is the vehicle's own year (when it was built), which picks the right generation photo; add a colour to match it; a trim like “Carrera S”, “993”, or “Type R” (or a body style like “Sportback”/“Sedan”) helps identify the exact one.
• When did you drive it? (optional) — the year, or a range like 2010–2014, that you actually drove or rode it. This is separate from the model year, so a 1972 classic you drove in 2015 shows up in the 2010s on your timeline — not the 1970s. Tick “I still have this one” for a vehicle you currently own/drive — it shows as “since 2020”, tags as Owning/Driving, and can be posted as your current garage.
• Duration — free text: “3 years”, “a weekend”, “one unforgettable night.”
• Note (one line) and the ★ “would drive again” star.
• Photo (optional) — we show a catalog photo matching your model + colour automatically; you can also upload your own. Add more than one shot per vehicle, and we show the AI catalog render alongside your photos so you can compare. Your licence plate is auto-blurred by default — untick “Blur my licence plate” on the upload if you'd rather keep it visible.

In a hurry? Use Quick add from a note — type “In 1989 I had a Buick LeSabre for 6 years” and we'll fill in the fields.

3. Your garage & “Your Driving Life”

Your garage lists everything you've added, with a stats panel. Hover any number to see what it means. Here's the full key:

• vehicles — every car and motorcycle you've logged.
• cars / bikes — how many are cars vs. motorcycles.
• makes — distinct manufacturers (Toyota, Honda…).
• owned — vehicles you owned.
• drove / rode — vehicles you drove or rode but didn't own (rented, borrowed, a friend's…).
• decades — how many different decades your driving spans, based on when you drove each vehicle.
• years span — years between your earliest and latest drive.
• ★ drive again — vehicles you starred as “would drive again”.
• countries — distinct countries you've driven in.

The decade timeline uses the year(s) you drove each vehicle when you've entered them, otherwise it falls back to the vehicle's model year.

4. Dream garage

Add a vehicle you want to drive to your dream garage — a separate list from the ones you've actually driven. Optionally add a model year to pick the exact era; the form previews the photo (AI renders are tagged) before you add, so you can make sure it's the right one.

With two or more dream rides, the Reading appears: a few lines on what your picks say about you (eras, nations, whether your dreams need a lottery win), computed from the catalog — no AI involved. If your dreams and your driveway disagree, it will gently say so.

Sharing it on Reddit — the share sheet (the 📤 Share button at the top of My Garage) walks you through the flow that works best on car subreddits: (1) get the dream card image (on a phone, "Share the dream card" sends the image straight into the Reddit app via the share sheet; on desktop, download it), (2) Start the Reddit post — Reddit opens with the title and your link pre-filled, where you can attach the image instead, and (3) copy your public link and paste it in a comment under your post. Nothing is ever posted automatically — you review everything on Reddit before submitting.

5. Share your garage

Your garage is private by default. Everything sharing-related lives in the share sheet — the 📤 Share button at the top of My Garage. It shows a live preview of what you're about to share (switch between the garage card, posters, and the dream card), a few lines on what your garage says about you, and every copyable item — link, garage-as-text — is shown before you copy it. Turning on sharing is one tap (we pick a username for you) and gives you a public link at vehicled.io/u/your-name. What's in the sheet:

• 🖼️ Your poster — an auto-made poster of every car you've driven, each labelled with its year + model. You get two versions to choose from: one built from your own photos, and one from clean AI renders of the same cars — download or share whichever you prefer. Toggle All vehicles / Owned only / Current garage to make a poster of just the cars you've owned, or just the ones you still have. All are always available to you in the share sheet, even while your garage is private.
• 📤 Share — one tap opens your phone's share sheet (WhatsApp, Instagram, Messages…) and attaches your garage poster.
• 📋 Copy as text — a compact plain-text version of your list, great for a forum signature or bio. Works even without turning on a public link.
• 🔗 Copy link and a QR code to your garage (handy in person or a bio).
• Share a single car — the 📤 on any ride shares just that car.
• Social card — a preview image that appears automatically when you post the link.

Just added a car? A quick "share your garage" prompt appears. On Explore you can see who else has driven the same models, or "beat this garage" to compare with a friend.

6. Discover cars & other drivers

• 🔎 Browse — look up any car or motorcycle at /browse and open its page to see everyone who's driven it — no need to add it to your garage.
• 🎲 Random garage — from Explore, jump to a random public garage for inspiration.
• Take the tour — new here? The 60-second tour walks you through everything.

7. Thumbs-up, following & your feed

Once your garage is public, you can connect with other drivers:

• 👍 Thumbs-up — give a thumbs-up to a profile, a specific ride someone logged, or a whole model. Tap again to undo.
• Verdicts — on someone's garage, pick one word: Respect · Would daily · Grail · Sensible · Unhinged (a compliment here). One verdict per garage; pick another to change it, tap yours to remove it. Every public garage also gets one-liners from a fixed three-judge panel — the same garage always gets the same lines.
• Follow a profile — from anyone's public garage. Their new rides appear in your feed.
• Follow a model — open any car (tap its name, or the “others have this” link) to reach its model page, then Follow it. You'll see every new ride people add for that model, and who owns it.
• Followers — your garage shows how many followers you have and who they are; anyone viewing a public garage can see its followers too.
• Your feed — the Feed tab shows recent rides from the profiles and models you follow, newest first.
• 🔔 Notifications — when someone follows you or 👍s your garage or a vehicle, it shows up in your notifications inbox (with an unread count in the nav).
• 📸 Photo added — if you log a car we don't have a photo for yet, we'll notify you once we've generated one, so your card fills in.

Thumbs-up and following only work on public garages, and you need to be signed in to use them.

8. Photos, import & export

• A photo appears automatically for common model + colour combos. If yours isn't there yet, it shows a clean placeholder — tell us and one usually appears within a day.
• Upload your own photo on any entry — you can add several per vehicle, and we show the AI catalog render next to them. We downsize each upload, strip location data (EXIF), and auto-blur any licence plate for your privacy (you can opt out per photo).
• Import/export your whole garage as CSV from your account.

9. Your account & privacy

You control what's public. Nothing is shared unless you switch sharing on — sharing settings, CSV import/export and your display name live under Account → Settings (/account). Photos in a private garage are only viewable by you (and admins). You can export or delete your account and all data anytime.
